Feast of St Nicholas
| December 5, 2011 | Posted by Kelly under Faith |
Tomorrow, December 6, is the Feast of St. Nicholas, the Patron Saint of Children. Growing up we had a tradition that few families I knew of had. We would place a carrot in our shoe the eve of St Nicholas’ Feast day and in the morning there would be a small gift. Growing up my mother told me that, on that night St Nick took a trial run with one of the reindeer and the carrot was a snack for him. As a thank you for the carrot, a small gift was left. I don’t remember what gifts I receive, but I have always remembered the tradition.
Today I carry on the tradition with my children. They may never remember the gifts, but they will always remember the tradition and the Feast of St. Nicholas.

Please visit the Saint Nicholas center for many projects to do with your children to celebrate this feast day.

Excellent information however I’d like to let you know that I think there is problem with your RSS feeds as they seem to not be working for me. May be just me but I thought overall I would cite it.
My website is educational toys.
Thank you for letting me know. I will have to look into that.
