How to make a travel Tea Bag Carrier or holder!

Tea Bag Holder - Travel Case -

I wanted to make something as a thank you gift for my Godmother. She loves tea, so I decide to make her a travel tea bag holder. I used the tea she enjoys to create the pattern, so you may want to adjust the size depending on the size of your tea bag. These tea bags are 2 1/2″ wide by 3″ tall. It can hold 5 tea bags, or 4 tea bags and 2 sugars or any combination that fits into 5 slots.

First gather up your supplies…
2 pieces of fabric (matching, coordinating, contrasting) cut 19″ by 6″ each
1 piece of fabric (matching, coordinating, contrasting) cut 5″ by 6″
1 piece of lightweight fusible interfacing cut just under 5″ by 6″
Snaps, buttons, or velcro to close

Iron all your pieces. Iron the fusible interfacing to the wrong side of the 5″ by 6″ piece of material. Now get your supplies to your sewing machine and hop over to my You Tube Channel for detailed instructions for making this great gift.

I saw similar teabag holders in a tea shop recently, but didn’t want to spend the money for them. I was hoping to find instructions online and was so pleased to find these. The video was so easy to follow, and I’m so thrilled that I was able to quickly in one afternoon make several teabag carriers for friends for Christmas. Thank you so much for posting this video!

I adore this project idea (and not just becsuae you chose Texas). I need to get the supplies and try it out for myself. Once I do, would you mind if I blog about it at and link back to your awesome instructions? Thank you for sharing!

I once saw a tea bag carrier for sale in a shop but I didn’t even have the $6.00 on me that it cost and by the time I got around to going back to get one they didn’t have them anymore. Thanks for posting your video on how to make one, it was very easy to follow. I especially loved the bubble girl material that you used and I’ve been trying to find it in my local fabric stores but haven’t had any luck yet. I can’t wait to try and make my own tea carrier and hopefully it will turn out as great as yours!
