Nutrition and Health

I’m almost afraid to write this post, because I fear after it is written we will get sick. That is just how life goes sometimes. Tonight I realized that February is almost over and we are all healthy (well as healthy as one can be with health issues). Normally February is our month to be sick, a cold, stomach bug, or bronchitis, but not this February. I started thinking about the reason this might be.
My first thought is our diet change. Eating healthier has helped our bodies remain healthy. We are eating our full recommended allowance of fruits and veggies. We aren’t eating anything processed and we are buying local.
Then I started thinking, maybe it is also not shopping at grocery stores. We all know that even with those whips at the doors, germs are everywhere at a store. The cart, the food, the money at the check out.
Then I continued thinking and thought maybe it was not eating out. Even at the cleanest places, someone could sneeze on something they shouldn’t, you could be exposed to germs on your chair, table, food, silverware, or even the check.
I also considered that it could be that we are buying local products. They aren’t traveling hundreds of miles, being handled by many, and carrying a variety of “travel dust”.
Then I went back to the thought of eating healthy. We still go out and spend time with people, we are exposed to germs. Maybe not as many as we use to be, but we are still exposed. So it is probably a combination of everything above. We are being exposed to less germs and the germs we are exposed to, our bodies are healthy enough to fight.
And of course as I’m writing this, I recall that hubby was sick on Thursday and Friday with a stomach bug. So maybe it is just wishful thinking that we are healthier, but I’ll take it
I feel healthier
