What can you do with socks?

While cleaning out my children’s clothes, I found an insane number of socks that don’t fit and don’t have a mate. At first I wasn’t sure what to do with them, so I threw them all into the rag bag. After a while some thoughts came to me….
Puppets! Children can decorate them with googlie eyes, yarn, and markers.
For packing! Today I used them to hold all the small items from my corner cabinet, like figurines, salt and pepper shakers, and shot glasses. I’m just packing them up so I can move the hutch to remove the wall paper, but this would also work for moving! You can also stuff socks into breakables, like vases to help protect them.
For cleaning! Children actually do enjoy cleaning, especially when you make a fun! Put a sock on each of their hands and let them collect all the dust! Have them run their hands over everything they can reach. They can also dip those sock covered hands in a bucket of soapy water and clean the windows, baseboards, and cabinets.
Holding marbles! Did you know that socks are great for holding marbles? Put the marbles in, tie the top and on the shelf they go.
Holding nuts and bolts! Yes that may sound crazy, but how many times have you taken apart a piece of furniture or other household item and you have all those nuts and bolts to keep track of? Just like the marbles, drop the nuts and bolts into the sock and knot it closed.
For polishing shoes! Socks can be great for polishing shoes. Throw a few in your shoe polishing kit and next time you polish your shoes, give them a try.
